Effective Date: 17 July 2025
These Terms and Conditions govern your engagement with the Australian Centre for International Studies (ACIS), a private academic research institute based in Canberra, Australia. By accessing our website, enrolling in study programs, submitting work for publication, or making payments to ACIS, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms in full.
ACIS provides digital services including academic publishing, commentary, and educational content. Users are expected to conduct themselves professionally, respect the intellectual property of others, and refrain from misusing the website, submission platforms, or any associated services. Unauthorised use of our systems or interference with the operation of our services is strictly prohibited.
All intellectual property produced or distributed by ACIS, including but not limited to articles, essays, and course materials, remains protected by copyright and may not be reproduced, shared, or adapted without express written permission. Authors retain the copyright to their work upon publication but grant ACIS a non-exclusive right to publish and distribute their material digitally.
All payments made to ACIS are final and non-refundable. This applies to enrolment fees, publication services, and any other associated costs. Refunds may only be considered in exceptional cases where the user is unable to proceed due to circumstances genuinely beyond their control — such as illness, family bereavement, or serious emergency — and only upon provision of acceptable supporting evidence such as a medical certificate or statutory declaration. Any request for refund must be made in writing and will be subject to the sole discretion of ACIS management. Refunds will not be granted for change of mind, scheduling conflicts, or dissatisfaction once a service has commenced.
Contributors submitting work to ACIS affirm that their work is original, does not infringe on the rights of others, and complies with all applicable ethical, academic, and legal standards. By submitting, they confirm that they are authorised to publish the material and that the content is not under embargo or previously restricted from publication. All submissions will be reviewed by the editorial team, who may recommend changes or decline to publish without obligation to provide detailed feedback.
While ACIS takes reasonable care to ensure the quality and reliability of its content, it accepts no liability for any loss, injury, or inconvenience arising from reliance on information provided through its services. Participation in ACIS study programs or publication initiatives does not guarantee academic or professional outcomes, and users engage at their own discretion.
ACIS reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. It is the responsibility of users to review the latest version, as continued use of the site or services will constitute acceptance of any updates or revisions.
These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by the laws of the Australian Capital Territory and the Commonwealth of Australia. Any disputes or legal matters arising from the use of ACIS services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in the Australian Capital Territory.
