All submissions to the Australian Centre for International Studies (ACIS) must be the original work of the author. We accept both original and previously published material, provided the author retains the legal right to republish. Submissions lacking clear authorship or infringing upon the rights of others will not be accepted.
All works must engage with international themes. Contributions from any academic or professional field are welcome, so long as they demonstrate relevance to global, transnational, or comparative perspectives.
Submissions must reflect intellectual rigour, critical insight, and scholarly coherence. An accessible style is permitted, but the content must meet high standards of analytical and conceptual clarity.
Articles should conform to editorial guidelines: research papers are generally 4,000-8,000 words; shorter essays or commentaries, 1,000-2,000 words. Texts must be written in Australian English and references should be provided via hyperlinks where applicable.
Authors must uphold ethical standards. Where human participants, images, or third-party materials are involved, appropriate permissions and ethical clearances must be obtained and acknowledged. Any use of artificial intelligence in the preparation of a submission must be clearly disclosed. While ethically sound use is permitted, it must not compromise the originality, scholarly quality, or transparency of authorship.
You must declare any prior publication of the work, including the original place of publication in the form of a direct citation or hyperlink and any use of artificial intelligence during the development of the submission.
By submitting your work to the ACIS, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to abide by our Terms and Conditions.
We welcome well-considered pitches from scholars, practitioners, and writers whose work engages with international themes across any discipline.
If you have a proposal for a research article, critical essay, or analytical piece that aligns with the Centre’s mission, you are invited to submit a concise outline of your idea, including its relevance, intended approach and anticipated length.
Pitches should demonstrate originality, intellectual merit and a clear contribution to global understanding.
Our editorial team will review all proposals and respond promptly with feedback or an invitation to proceed to full submission.
